Vacationing for God!

Boy's faceSummertime is here. For almost everyone in the U.S. this means summer vacation. Two and a half months away from school and teachers and studying. But most of the kids in the Southern Africa region go to school throughout June, July and August. However, this can be a good thing. June, July and August are the months when we get the most volunteers coming out to join in God's work in the region for a couple of weeks during their vacation. They spend their vacation working for the LORD!! This is a very convenient time, since school is still in session, for people to come and work with school aged children and youth.

Volunteers spend a few weeks of their vacation in the Southern Africa region doing all sort of things. Some people come to help in Sports Evangelism. This is where they get a group of kids together and teach/play a sport, like baseball or basketball and teach a Bible study along with the sport. This is why it is convenient that school is in session. Sometimes they can go right into the schools or during their after-school activity time and lead in a sports/Bible study time.

Other times volunteers are invited into the school assemblies. This is when the whole school is gathered together to hear a speaker. What an awesome opportunity to tell everyone in the whole school, teachers included, about the love and salvation found in Jesus Christ.

When a mission team comes out, they often have several people who are good at different things. Some can coach and others can lead Bible studies. Sometimes they have singers and prayer walkers too. This way each person does what he can do best and what he feels God wants him to do. We are not all preachers we are coaches, teachers or pray-ers. God can use you no matter what your specialty, if you are willing to be used by Him.
